Lack of Self-Worth, school shootings and killings, and saying OK are combined in profound concerns that ought to be addressed immediately. After the recent tragic school shooting in Germany, I received the following thoughts which I just have to share with you.
Building Self-Esteem and Self-Image has to start at home; Parents, do not wait until your kids go to kindergarten, start NOW!
Why is it when a violent attack on innocent civilians happens, when young people kill their classmates and teachers, we ask ourselves:
How could that ever happen?
Permitting our conscious mind to become numb, is a moral crime. Instead to trust our feelings, we listen to more and more ‘news and information’ of so-called experts and self-appointed gurus.
And we say OK.
Everything began when we began to ignore the wisdom of our elders and ancestors.
And we said OK.
When Dr. Spock said that spanking a child destroys the child’s individuality and it could be damaging to their self-esteem (remember Spock’s son tragically chose suicide),we said an expert ought to know what he is talking about.
And we said OK.
Then someone said that teachers and school administrators ought not discipline our kids; this could possibly lead to bad school publicity and law suits.
And we said OK.
Then someone ‘wise’ proclaimed smilingly that ‘boys are boys’, and we began to give teenage pregnancy the face of solely a teenage girl.
And we said OK.
Then someone discovered the TV dinner- convenient, fast and no mess in the kitchen; however, the family mess piled and piles on the heap of non-communication, lack of traditions, lack of compassion and concerns, the lack of sense of family, the lack of expressions of love.
And we said OK.
Then someone thought playing e-games is also learning; yet, spelling and true learning fell victim to new ways of communication, and 4 U 2, it became a problem 4 Ur kids in school.
And we said OK.
Then someone said- let’s print magazines with photos of nude women and call it ‘honoring’ the beauty of the female body.
And we said OK.
And then the entertainment industry said- let’s make TV shows and movies with violence, foul language, and sex spiking revenue; it’s only entertainment and does not have any damaging effect on anyone… no one takes this seriously anyway.
And we said OK.
And now we’re asking ourselves WHY our children can’t or won’t differentiate between right and wrong, and why they are seemingly indifferent to killing school mates, teachers, strangers and themselves?
Remember: we said OK.
Let’s NOT say OK any longer! Education starts at home, begin NOW!
Leave ''And We Said OK- which is NOT OK" and
