Tolerance where you least expect it!

by Gerry
(Colorado)

Max the Peacemaker

Max the Peacemaker

My best friend Max is over 14 years old.
He’s always been up for any kind of adventure especially road trips. And he’s never met a friend he didn’t already know.

His house has always been the ‘go to’ house when his friends manage to escape from their yard and he’s always welcomed them with his stump of a tail going a hundred miles an hour.

He has at least 1 house guest 90% of the time (his best friend is Jack, his girlfriend in Wrigley).

His friends are all different colors, he knows very little of their heritage and couldn’t care less. He shares his food, his cookies, his yard and his open space every day.

If there are moments when his friends ‘test’ each other, he’ll intervene but he also knows when to back down (now that he’s 14). But that doesn’t happen often. And most often they’ll defer to him because they respect him as a peacemaker.

Over the years they’ve all learned to share and respect one another. They’ve been patient and tolerant even with new friends that happen to ‘stop by’.

Their lives are happy and simple. For them life is very, very good.

If we were all as tolerant as Max… How nice would that be?
